TUKE Footballers Dominated the 2026 Slovak Academic Championships
The Technical University of Košice was entrusted by the Slovak Association of University Sport with organising the 2026 Slovak Academic Football Championships. On 19–20 May 2026, the home ground of Slávia TU Košice became the meeting place for the best university football players from across Slovakia.
In the opening semi-final matches, TUKE and UNIZA performed best and secured their places in the final. The third-place match was therefore contested by UPJŠ Košice and Comenius University in Bratislava.
The winning trophy was ultimately lifted by the players of the Technical University of Košice, who defeated the University of Žilina 3:2 in the final. The bronze medals went to the students of Comenius University in Bratislava after their victory over Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in a penalty shootout. Regular time ended in a 2:2 draw.
The best goalkeeper of the tournament was Šimon Beňo from UNIZA. The award for the best player of the tournament went to Samuel Balica from TUKE.
